What's New

Had to get rid of the look I had from yesterday. It sucked and I hated it. So now I'm using one from 1997 which ain't too cool but I'm having a creativity brain cramp right now so I don't right give a flying @#$%. I know white is a bit hard on the eyes but I just can't think of a background or a good color to use right now. Sue me. What's worse is that the index page needs some serious work. I had NetObjects down to a T and the look was fantastic. Then I lost that! DOH ... dang..that one hurt. That was one hell of a lot of work down the tubes. Anyway, had some visual candy and some other neat stuff as well as a unified site look that is all gone. Now I gotta rethink everything in terms of a page by page approach and how to manage that. I mean that's what I'm doing and have been doing but it means I got to be more creative and that just ain't in my personal toolbox ya know? :) I was never very creative anyway and can't draw a stick figure to save my life. A lot of people talk about Dreamweaver but I don't know. First, it's only PPC native so I can't use it on the mac and mostly is full of crap I don't like like frames, java, cgi, etc. or things I wouldn't use. So I guess I'll just stick with VisualPage and SiteMill. Works for me and it's fast. Enough for a small site like this.

I got a battery for the X-90 today. Installed that. Took it to the pressure wash place and hosed off about a gazillion speedy spiders. Geez! I think every spider in WA state was on or in my car. It still looks very grungy but not as bad as it did. Weird thing...even after sitting for two months..the tires had not lost any pressue..which is odd. So now I can call the vet and make an appt for Zoot to get his yearly shots and his rabies tag. Now that I've taken to letting him out on the porch, I'm going to have to get him a collar so I can put his tag on. The other day I heard t his mad scrabbling coming from the deck and looked outside and he was hanging off the wrong side of the railing..seems he lost his footing and almost fell off... It's only a 10-12' drop but I still think he might get hurt if he fell. But if he does manage to get off the deck, I want him tagged so at least he doesn't get put to sleep on suspicion of having rabies and I might have a chance of getting him back. I would keep him in all the time but he gets cranky if I do and then he takes it out on me. All the scars I have from him are just now healing so I don't think that's an option.

The auto parts store a block away is taking apps and I think I will get out of aerospace program management and go sell auto parts. I like helping people and this wouldn't be hard core selling. Anyway, it would be a change and I need that. Company X is just too damn confining. Sure wouldn't have to worry about a commute. Was also thinking about using the bike and signing up as a moto courier/messenger. Lots of accident exposure there and lot's of highway time. Crap. Around here that means 405 around Bellevue, Redmond (yes...that Redmond), Kirkland and Seattle. Talk about a traffice black hole. It's similar to the area around L.A. in terms of traffice congestion. Sucks big time. I think that ia is a DOA idea...

Washed the moto jacket, liner and pants tonight. Man..they were scroungy. After a year of daily use they were filthy. Funny...being black and red you didn't notice it much. They didn't smell bad just covered in road dirt and other things like bug guts and brains. :) Taking the armor out of the jacket and pants was an eye-opener. The things are tough as nails! I had no idea that they were that stout. A very tough (tho energy abosorbing front) and a softer inner lining. The only glitch I had using that system the day I went down is that the right elbow shield was out of position and the jacket scrapped down to my skin and gave me a quarter sized road rash. Went thru the material and got me but my shirt was untouched...weird. Anyway, that was the only damage to both garments even tho I slid a long way on my right side. The boots tho are another matter. I had them for a week before the accident and I'm glad I got em. They are the very high engineer type with the tops coming up near my knee cap. Very big steel toes. The leather was ground down to the steel on the toe and the side was very scraped up. For $100...that's cheap insurance. I was totalling up how much I have in protection and with boots, helmet, jacket, pants and gloves it comes to just under $1000. Which is one HELL of a lot cheaper than a skin graft and a LOT less painful I can tell you.

What's On My Mind

PowerPC's. If you take a PPC 6100 and mate it with a NewerTech accelerator card you can take it up to 210MHz. Figure $4-500 for the box and another $500 for the card and that's not too bad. More expensive than PC's? Yep. But then that's not the point. The point is that you aren't running scum-sucking windows (any MS crap for that matter)...you're running the MacOS. Nuff said. The crap side is that hard disks for mac's are outrageously priced. About 2.5x higher than comparable pc hard disks. Now that sucks. :( The upside is that all the software I have will run on a newer machine (like I can afford one now ... hehe) and will of course run one hell of a lot faster. The biggest reason for a PowerPC is .mp3's. Just as Winamp won't run on a 486 class machine, neither will Macamp run on a 680X0 class machine. So it goes. Some tasty Macamp skins out there. Not as many as Winamp but nice just the same.

Getting stir crazy. Aetna. Our disability is handled thru them. Goofs. They cut me a check that was way too big last month and I didn't know it since it was the first. Anyway, they say that they want the dough back. Oh..no sweat bozo's..I only live off this crap. So I owe them around $200 even after NOT cashing this months check. Creeps. And the only reason they can get away with it is because they lobbied and bribed people in office to get that legislation passed. Not because it's right. Hell. They admitted to having audited and approved the check. Scumbags. Just goes to show you that bribery, graft, extortion and unethical and immoral behavior will get you far in this world.

Got AC/DC on Winamp. Major tuneage. :)

BTW, for all you Windoze people out there. Check out litestep.net. Litestep is a win shell that replaces the Explorer interface we've all grown to hate and replaces it with an Afterstep looking interface. Afterstep is a GUI from UNIX and LINUX. The damn thing just works. I ran it for over a month and not ONE blue screen 'o death. NOT ONE! It is stable, it is 4MB smaller than Explorer and a heck of a lot more stable. I suggest using ver b23 since b24 doesn't have the graphical configurator updated yet. b24 is a major upgrade and is not as stable yet as b23. b23 just plain rocks. If you want a neat replacement to Explorer, want to help yourelf forget you are running Win95/98, or just want something different..check it out. It is fantastic.

And yes..I know the Glass Houses webring links are not working. They haven't activated me yet. I'll also be joining Often so that won't work for a while either.

Be Joyous!
