Stooges! Well, it is almost time to hit the dusty trail. I have
only to get a mover or two in here to do an estimate and then; home!
Got the layout for the new mag in VERY rough draft. Have submitted it and
have four writers on board already. Hope to get two more by the middle of
August. Gonna need some graphic support from a professional, but that is
about two months down the road. At least the domain is still open.
Had dinner with Dad last night. It is good to spend as much time as possible
with him since it will be a while before I see him again. Hopefully, not
in this part of the country.
Brian called last night as he barrelled down Hixson Pike in the rain. He
said he has gotten the job of Director he was hoping for, and it begins
to happen tommorrow. Good for him! He's been in the coding trenches way
too long. Even though he's a Project Manager with 15 people, he still has
to deal wtih bit-heads and pseudo-code. Time to get a little vertical distance
on his career.
Me? I still have no firm prospects for landing in Seattle. But that's okay.
I got about $1800 ready cash and a MasterCard with nothing on it. 8K spending
limit. I should be okay for any unemployed time. Just going to take it easy
getting there and let things happen as they will.
I finished at Provident on Tuesday and Thank God for that. What a bore!
Got a lot of reading done though. It didn't pay much as jobs go but when
you figure all they were paying me for was to sit and do the occasional
thing and mostly to read, well, I guess it's okay.
Jane wrote to let me know she had made it back to Maryland safely. Sam did
okay with her and apparently couldn't get comfortable in the car. What do
you expect? How can a Gordon Setter
get comfortable in the front seat of a Nissan Sentra?
She has already started working and is looking into renting a townhouse
near Fredricksburg. Probably the same one Julie had years ago. Who knows.
Townhouses are okay as long as you don't have to buy one. I'm probably going
into a studio until I know what my finnances are going to look like. It
will be cramped but spaceless.
Having dinner tonight with Bill and Kathy. Cancelled Bob and Trudy tommorow
night.
Just got a call from the Pirates at the VW shop. To fix my van's speedometer
problem will cost $275 plus $20 to overnight the parts. To fix the starting
problem with the transmission lever would cost $450. Told him no way on
that. Since I am going across the country I asked how long it would last
and he estimated many months so I have a while before I have to get it fixed.
Maybe it will be done by tommorow night. Crap. I gotta ditch that van soon.
Most expensive auto I've ever owned in terms of headache and service. Hauls
a lot though. As long as it makes it to WA, I don't care.
Well, gotta get going on the day.
If you get a chance, check this site out - http://www2.pair.com/tracylee/index.htm
It is different. She really lays out her life on the web. Interesting reading.
Also give maggy's world a whirl. You will find it in the Too Cool section
of my bookmarks page. Magdalena Donea is a webmistress without peer. Excellent
design and implementation and a really nice and personable person as well.
Be cool.
