"Roll Up!!!"

Well, well, well..well... Everybody get their taxes done? I filed for an extension yesterday because I basically let my paperwork sit around for two months and didn't do a thing about it. Sitting right next to my monitor, it tended to blend into the background. Soooo.... a few days ago panic sets in. I have taxes to pay in Indiana, Louisville and worked in three states. My accountant is in Indiana so I had to read her the W-2 info and sheesh!!! So she faxed me the completed extension forms and I had to pay estimated tax to L'ville and IN (and boy didn't that suck!!) and mail three letters off...Whine, whine, whine....anyway...it looks like I get money back after all which is nice. I'm having the maximum taken out of my pay now so that I KNOW I will get money back next year. Maybe even buy MacInTax so I can do it E-lec-tron-ic-ally. Wa hooo....welcome to the computer age.

Another weekend with my lovely. She shaved my beard down for me and cooked up some mighty stir-fry on Friday night. Then, a friend of hers was going to spend the night and then shows up with three other people in tow. What an invasion! Then, she doesn't spend the night! I was completely discombobulated.

Watched "Sleepers" with Brad Pitt, Dustin Hoffman, Robert DeNiro, Kevin Bacon and lots of others. Really good movie. Rent it!

Work is good. Work is more than good but less than excellent. today I was supposeent schedules for my group but the guy running the meeting didn't know so I dodged that bullet. Actually, I was looking forward to doing it cause it was the first product I had done since coming back online. Next week at any rate.

We moved in the building and now we are in a location that has coffee that absolutely sucks. So, I don't drink as much. Which is what my Therapist and shrink want but I didn't. Anyway, I'm being involuntarily decaffed. Blech. Whoever makes it puts about three little teaspoons of coffee in each filter and then places them in a jar and locks up the coffee so none of us caffeine-heads can up the voltage. Which really makes no sense. The most popular (and the most profitable) coffee mess on the floor was one that had Starbucks coffee and was so popular they dropped the price to 20 cents and was free on Friday's. So, it is true. Some people are not capable of learning. Sad. Sadder still is the fact that we have no coffee and I must somehow get my adrenal glands functioning again. Plus, to add insult to injury, I work so far away from a place to smoke that I don't during the day (which really is good after all) so I'm additionally un-amped during the daylight hours. Enough to make a person ill.

BTW, if you are thinking of getting a Futon cause you think they are cute, or that they don't take up much space, or that it might be fun to use as a primary bed or whatever....you are partially right and mostly wrong. I have been on one for far too long (early February) and I want a REAL bed so bad I can taste it. The futon is not the best thing for spending a weekend in bed or for lounging around on. No posture support dontcha know... Plus, you gotta keep flipping it (ifn you don't want permanent divits) and let it air out and ... aaacccccchhhh!!!!! I juswant a real bed. Then we can relegate the futon to the living room and have an uncomfortable couch. At least as a Queen sized futon I'll be able to take a nap on it.... One more thing... the damn thing is so low to the ground that I catch my shins on it all the time. Maybe I'm uncoordinated but it is just in the way....

Colette and I looked at one a few weeks ago that was a monster. It had posts and was way off the floor and was made of Ponderosa Pine and it was massive and it was GREAT!!! Hopefully we can still get the same model when we move into the house. Everyone keeps saying "get a waterbed!". Uh uh. No way. We tried it and we definately like the firmness of the Seally. Like a rock really. Plus, the comforter won't be dragging the floor and we'll have space for nightstands and...and...live like humans!!! Astounding!! Anything to get away from the traffic sounds I'm hearing as I type this.

We like the Queen size the best. I've had King and liked it but it takes two taxis and a bus transfer to get to the other side of the bed...and that's too far to snuggle. So, we're looking at the Queen. Went to a local mattress shop with really obnoxious commercials and they had our favorite mattress for over $1,000!! Went to another shop and they had it for $599!!! Bizarre. The lower priced store also had the bed we liked as well as some great dressers and chairs. So, we plan to drop a bundle there and get an integrated look. No white, chrome or leather for us. Just some very well built honest furniture. It seems so hard to find these days. I know that real quality is expensive, and getting more so everyday, but furniture without pretensions is even harder to find. We're not furnishing a Soho loft or a Park Ave Condo or a house in Malibu...just a hooch in W. Wa. Why is it that every store assumes you want the ugliest furniture on the planet just to be trendy!!!???? Bizarre....

Three weeks ago we picked up a TV (and ran like hell!! :-0) and last weekend we got a phone, a vacuum and a microwave. Each was $99. Like to blowed the salespersons mind. Kinda like a frenzy....as I've said in the past. Don't take much to amuse me... So now we have this high speed cordless phone that I can't set the time/date stamp on cause the manual had gone walkabout. I finally managed to get the outgoing message recorded and figgered out the speed dial programming but the time/date thing is stumping me. If you have a Toshiba FT-9005 phone, would you mind writing and telling me how to set the date and time??? Please??? I called the people in Portland who sell their manuals and they want $17-18 dollars for something that is probably printed on recycled paper and written in atrocious Englishh!!! Yikes!!! Youd think they would put their cheesey manuals on the web. They have a nice site and even have a picture of our phone there but no information other than sales blurbs. Ratz......

Got The Girls on...Amy singing "Romeo and Juliet"... they were in Seattle last week and did a private kind of venue. But it got broadcast on the radio which was nice. They hopefully will becoming back to the NW on the Lilith tour which will have Sarah McLaughlin, Paula Cole, Jewel and some others.... ought to be good.

Colette and I are going to the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival this weekend. When the weather is clear, you can't beat strolling around brightly covered fields in red and blue and white and pastels with the wind blowing and Mt. Baker in the background in snow-capped majestic glory. Hand in hand...chatting and sipping wine. Life can be good.

Done vacuumed the floor, got the third load of warsh in, ate me a huge sammich, smoked the last of my Lights, drinking some good joe, ate some Rasleberry yog for dessert (Dessert!! Just miles and miles of Dessert!!!) so I'm jes as happy as a pig in slop.

Be Joyous!

Drew
