"Life will come, and life will go..."

Ok. OH My Oh My....

I just got a $688 phone bill!!!!! Yikes!!!!! No more calls to Manda in Australia that is for damn sure!!!!!!

Now....for the good stuff.... Any Macintosh users out there??? And you know who you are don't you???? Have you heard of the BeBox?? Although discontinued, the BeOS is alive and well and makes a PowerPC scream like a thousand banshees on a million moors... I want a PowerPC with the BeOS running on it!!! I do I do I do ... I really do.... Oh please Oh please.... I wish I may, I wish I might, find a PowerPC under my bed tonight... Now, it does not matter that there aren't any real apps out there for this OS. That is completely beside the point. What is the point is that the BeOS is a thoroughly modern OS with: pre-emptive multi-tasking, symetric multi-processing and multi-threading. Forget Next and Apple...when the BeOS 1.0 system is delivered this summer (they are at DR 8.3 or 9.0 ), the apps will follow. It unleashes the power of a 604e chip NOW vs. Apples kludge whenever they decide to deliver it. Also, fredsoft or fredware (I think) has a Virtual Mac emulator running now that could be ready to support the 1.0 release. And, Be has signed licensing agreements with PowerPC and Motorola for their clones. Talk is that there will be others...and why not. It blows the doors off Apple's Systems. Look...I'm a Mac head since 1985, but there comes a time when you have to give something up as lost. I would have bought a NextStep if they had been affordable, and I'd buy a SUN UltraSparc if I was a UNIX geek, but I'm not. So why not go with a modern OS that has the code community jumping!!! The action is at Be cause it sure as hell ain't with Apple.

Now, for the really tasty stuff. Again, for all you Mac heads. The rest of you Windoze people can skip to the end of the entry. If you go to http://greg.math.harvard.edu, you will see the homepage of the genius' who brought us Aaron; the extension that makes your Mac look like System 8.0 would have made it look. Also at this page, is Greg's buttons which alllows you to change the look of radio buttons, check boxes and other Mac system stuff. There is also Greg's Browser (Greg Landweber is the principle author of the code). The Browser allows you a horizontal view of the filing system in your Mac without having to drill down through folders to get where you want. It is better than the 7.0 flipping triangles..believe me. There is also an extension for making your system display at better rez's. One of the best things is that Aaron has been modified again. Code mostly for odd bugs but it has been rev'd again.

And now the really good news: there is now an extension to make your Mac look like a BeOS machine!!! It is toooo kewl!!!!! My Mac (a lowly 33Mhz Performa 635CD with 40MB RAM) is now smapping through folders faster than it ever has. The look is clean and it has the BeOS yellow tabs on top left of windows and the folders look like open mania envelops and the trash can looks like (aaccchhhh) a Win95 trash can with a liner in it. OH welll... Nice anyway.

The really radical news at this site is called Kaleidoscope 1.5!!!!!!!! It includes the functionality of Aaron, BeView (the BeOS extension), Greg's Buttons and some other odd color schemes. It also has an implementation of the black hi-tech look featured in MacWorld about two years ago. It does not give you the far out folders or trash can but the color scheme has to be seen to be believed. The active window has a yellow safety tape look like a Caution tape. Believe me...it looks better than it sounds. For those of you with Goth tendancies or Metropolis wannabes, this is it!!!!!! It just came out on the 19th in version 1.5 so be the first in your cube row to flaunt this at your fellow clones...or S.O.

It is Sharware so if you use it, PAY FOR IT!!!!! How else is anyone going to deliver this kind of coolage to us if we don't pay for it!! Sheesh!!!! BTW, I get nothing from this plug. I'm just stoked cause it looks really great and all of Greg's stuff is ultra-stable (unlike Apple's OS) and I have NEVER had a crash attributable to it (unlike Apple's OS or Microsloth's crap).

Got overpaid from work on my first Med Leave so my disability is now going to pay that back. By the time I return to work, I'm going to be chewing water. But like a true Psycho Nerd Geek, I would pay shareware fees before I bought food. Although (and sorry bout this Greg) I will buy Coffee, Marlboro Lights, MochaMix and Sweet 'n Low before I pay my fees. I had to borrow $1,000 from a sister just so I can pay rent and a God Awful phone bill....

I sit here with my sweeties picture in front of me. Hey!!! It works for me!!! I've read that others have Trolls, and voodoo shit and Smurfs guarding their 'puters, I happen to just need my sweetie. LIfe IS good...just got to get to the right space.

Oh and BTW...
to those of you who gave Midnight Pumpkin a bad time....
GET THE FUCK OFF HER BACK!!!!!
You morons have no idea what she is going through and you ought to be smashed into little quivering pools of iridescant protoplasm for making her life any harder than it already is.
Gigantic Everest-sized lumps of coal on your asshole heads!!!!!!

As I remember, I will include URL's to other tasty Macintosh shareware stuff. I'm currently evaluating an extension that keeps the Mac from stopping when you access the Menu. It seems to work better than nothing at all. I'll let you know. Another is Decor. Anybody use this??? It sure as hell eats up a lot of System RAM but it does a nice job of displaying pics. Jury is still out on this one. Other than my sweeties picture tho, I don't have any pics I care to use up 2MB of RAM displaying....Also, trying Netscape DeFrost which is supposed to keep Netscape from locking up (yeah right!). Don't notice any difference yet... Just keep InternetConfig off your machine. IMHO, it is a crash enabler (Hey! That's not a bug, that's a feature!!). And Microsoft Explorer is one of the most demented pieces of code I have ever run across in my whole life. What a twisted piece of rehashed Mosaic code!!!!!

As you might have gathered, I have no qualms about writing to myself or to others. I know people read this thing but I also write cause I like to get it off my brain and I need to get things out from time to time. I also know that some people identify with what I write and some don't. Yadda Yadda Yadda... Anyway, I have no qualms...no money either. :::lighting another smoke::: Hell, if I'm going to be PIC, I might as well smoke too dont'cha think???

The therapist I see is pretty good. He and I communicate pretty well and things are going good. I don't have as far to go as I'd thought but it will take some time to learn how to identify bad patterns and thoughts and then to change them. But I'm up for it. My shrink is excellent too. Going to see about gettin on Buspar for a side effect common to AD's. Modesty prohibits me from saying what this is but it can be a real downer right when you don't need one. IF ya know what I mean....

Gabby of Turns To Stone mentioned she had seen "Donnie Brasco" with Al Pacino. If you haven't seen Heat yet....see it!!! Fantastic movie with Robert DeNiro and Val Kilmer and a BUNCH of othe good people. It's two movie cassettes but it is worth it. The Diner scene and the end will blow you away. Best acting I've seen in a LONG time. It kinda reminds me of Thief with James Caan and Tuesday Weld and Jim Belushi. And the Tangerine Dream soundtrack to THAT movie is GREAT!!!!!!

Alrightey then....enough. BTW, if you know where I can get a Fender Telecaster Elite at under $600, give me a jolt will ya???? I already got one and want to make sure I have a backup.

One more thing...I've been told my calendar page loads like a pregnant cow...any feedback??? I know I have to break it up but right now...I just don't have the motivation to rewrite links and I hate SiteMill....

Be Joyous!

Drew
