"like the side of the ship where the iceberg rips..."

What's New

Been a while. Over 11 months. That's a very long time to go without updating. I will get around to a new image scheme when I get a chance. Not on my list of things to get done right now.

Let's see...I moved last September to eastern WA and now work on an environmental remediation project. I left Boeing because it was/is flatly tanking out. The layoff situation had not gotten any better. Halfway through a 48K layoff and the company is sucking hind tit and they are still laying people off. A massive brain drain of epic proportions. I told my boss I was leaving and the best he eventually was able to do was an out of sequence retention level One. Which means I went back to top of heap for retainibility..but no raise even tho I had quoted him the raise I was getting...no dice. I said "buh bye" and never looked back. I do miss the rain. I am making better money here than in Everett and am back behind the stick using Primavera Project Planner...and that's a good thing.

I run Be Operating System full time and have DSL connection which I dearly love. It hauls and is now working fine that I have a SonicWall Firewall in place that also does DHCP since Be's implementation is not really up to snuff. SonicWall Firewalls' rock. They get great reviews and are fast enough as not to put a drain on anything. I can't tell it's there. It was $300 but as a top rated product that works like nothing I've ever seen before, was easy to install and set up...I can live with that price for peace of mind.

What's On My Mind

Don't play Starsiege anymore. The damn game was making me insane and is a time sink without paralell. I now happily play on my puters and let them crank out SETI packets. For some reason I miss my Ricochet wireless modem. It was only 28.8K but it was funky and I liked it. I have the two computers running on one monitor and toggle between them with a switchbox.

I have picked up a bit of weight since I moved here. I have been eating entirely too well. Too much beer and too many burgers and hoagies. Need to start walking. The nice thing is that the weather is getting better and am getting out on the bike more. I have to admit that
